Custom Software Development
Business software built around how your organisation actually works, instead of reshaping the organisation around off-the-shelf software.
Brussels, Belgium · Senior-led delivery
There is a point where configuring a generic tool costs more than building the right one. It usually announces itself as a stack of exceptions: the plugin that had to be patched, the export that gets fixed by hand every month, the process step that exists only because the software cannot express it. The Weekly Dev builds custom applications and the integrations around them, from Brussels, for clients in Belgium and across Europe.
When this applies
- Off-the-shelf software covers most of the process and blocks the part that differentiates you.
- Several systems hold overlapping data and none of them agree.
- A working system was built years ago by someone who has since left.
- Licence costs scale with headcount for functionality you barely use.
What you get
- A custom application designed around your actual workflow and vocabulary
- Integrations with the systems you already run, including error handling and retries
- APIs designed for long-term use: versioned, documented, and typed
- A migration path from the current system with data integrity verified before cut-over
- Architecture documentation that survives a change of developer
- Maintainable code: conventional structure, no bespoke framework to learn
How it runs
Briefing
We map the process as it runs today, including the parts that happen in spreadsheets and email.
Assessment
Not everything should be custom. Where an existing product fits, that is the recommendation: the goal is fewer systems, not more code.
Delivery
The system is built and released in stages, so value arrives before the whole scope is complete.
Continuity
Documentation, environment access, and handover notes are part of the deliverable, not an afterthought.
Questions
- Is custom software worth it for a small company?
- Sometimes. It is worth it when a process is both central to how you make money and genuinely different from the default. For everything else, configuring an existing product is cheaper and we will say so.
- Do you work with clients outside Brussels?
- Yes. The studio is based in Brussels and works remotely with clients across Belgium and the wider EU, in the CET/CEST timezone. On-site meetings are practical within Belgium.
- What happens if we want to bring development in-house later?
- That is a normal outcome. The code uses conventional patterns and standard tooling specifically so a new team can pick it up without a translation layer.
